Miss Norway 2010 Clogs

Rosemaling, Norwegian for “decorative painting” is a form of folk art that originated in the rural valleys of Norway. In Norway natural wood is very common in the homes since this is the main source of material, and it was common to paint walls, ceilings, fireplaces and doors. It became a status symbol to have these types of items painted using rosemaling in their homes.

I specialize in the Telemark style and apply my craft to painting furniture, plates, trays, cabinets, clocks, chests, entertainment centers and various other items. I also specialize in refurbishing and painting older items that otherwise would be discarded or thrown out. You should never paint on antiques.

For instance, Miss Norway 2010 of Astoria OR bought a pair of old clogs, then asked me to restore and paint them to match her Norwegian Bunad. Now as you can see to the left, how beautiful they look.

Now I invite you to explore my web site, view the Gallery section of previous projects and dream up your own custom piece to commission me to paint for you. Or see what I currently have in stock on the Sale page, whatever you decide, let me bring a "little Norwegian culture in your home".
